Welcome to Mrs. Baird’s Room!

Julia Baird grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended the University of Utah and graduated with a degree in both English and Film. She taught English as a second language in Salt Lake City before moving with her husband to Washington, D.C. and then Maine, where she worked for one year at Sedgwick Elementary School before joining the Brooklin School team in 2017. Currently, she is the English language arts teacher for grades 3-8.  She is also continuing her education through courses at the University of Maine. She loves playing soccer, skiing, biking, and has never met a flavor of ice cream she didn’t like.

Our classRoom

Mrs. Baird is an avid reader and writer and she instills this passion of authorship in her students. The third and fourth grade students begin their day with Mrs. Baird. Here, they read engaging and rigorous texts that make local and global connections. With this grade level text, the students must become critical thinkers and problem solvers. In addition, students do word work which includes vocabulary building and spelling, independent reading at their individual reading levels, and writing about reading.

During the day, the students in the 3-4 classroom stay in their homerooms and the teachers come to them. Mrs. Tapley teaches grade level math to each individual class and Mrs. Bebell teaches both science and social studies. Students leave the classroom daily when they attend their two specials.
